I will be the first to admit that I have been sceptical about the whole issue of DNA testing and genealogy.  I am sure that many will think that simply by having their DNA tested that will create a shortcut to the discovery of countless ancestors as well as numerous descendents, but I am not one of them.  Given that I have spent over 30 years researching my ancestry and that I know with almost complete certainty who my Great x X grandparents are why would I want to have my DNA tested?  Well, apart from the fact that my very generous wife kindly bought this for me for Christmas, I started to wonder whether there might be an outside chance that my two significant brick walls - namely the antecedents of Jacob Parsey and his second wife Frances Dalzell - might have descendents who have also had their DNA tested, and thus lead me to distant relatives who know more than I have been able to find.  Probably wishful thinking. but I've spat in a vial, sealed it up and sent it off to Ireland for processing so we'll see what happens.  Watch this space!
